Product introduction
Like a gentle breeze, like water to quench your throat, like a small bird playing in the woods. Music with a smile that soothes my heart. After going through the “Luz de Agua” two-part series engraved in Neo Folklore history in modern Argentina, and “Aguasirabas,” which was announced under the trio name Carlos Aguirre/Gonzalo Díaz, Sebastian Macchi announced a new work “Melodia Bardia” under the solo name. An ambitious work that welcomed a diverse range of guests while retaining Sebastian's gentle singing voice and melody, and natural, lyrical piano, and made a big leap forward in terms of song design and harmony/arrangement. Another album I want to listen to with care for a long time has arrived from the shores of Parana.
He attracted attention as a central figure in the two albums “Luz de Agua” (2005, 2015) of Argentina's Neo Folklore's best album, which became a lifelong piece for many people, and his piano solo masterpiece “Piano Solito - Only One Piano” (2016), and a piano trio with Carlos Aguirre/Gonzalo Díaz” Sebastian Macchi, who has presented small yet memorable works, such as “Aguasirabas” (2019), has completed a long-awaited new work under the name of his solo work.
Until now, each album has been produced with a fixed number of members, but in this work, various guests add color to each song, even though the rock-solid trio of Fernando Silva (double bass) and Gonzalo Díaz (drums/percussion) is based on an ensemble that makes you feel a sense of singing spirit and delicate dynamism. Participating musicians are Vitor Gonçalves (Brazilian pianist who released the lead album from the prestigious American label SUNNYSIDE), Mauro Reyes (member of Carlos Aguirre Quinteto), Nico Ibarburu (SSW representing the Uruguayan music scene), Anita Arcetti (accordion/vocals), Hugo Maldonado (vocals & guitar), Leandro Drago (synthesizer/SE), etc. Furthermore, there were also ambitious experiments, such as introducing a chamber music ensemble with 2 songs for violin/viola/cello/flute/clarinet/trumpet/horn.
Using artists not only from Argentina but also from Brazil and Uruguay, this work broke new ground for himself in terms of musicality and harmony/arrangement while making use of their respective musicality, and completed as music unique to Sebastian Macchi. Reminiscent of the masterpiece “Orijania” by Carlos Aguirre, who is a musical ally and looks up to as his mentor.
