This is a domestically produced metal cast Buddha statue. It is sized to be enjoyed in daily life as a tasteful interior decoration and a source of spiritual comfort. ■Fudo Myoo (Acala) The guardian deity for those born in the Year of the Rooster Fudo Myoo acts under the command of Dainichi Nyorai, taking on a stern appearance to save people and burning away all obstacles and defilements. Fudo Myoo is the most famous of the Myoo, and his statues are often seen alongside those of Kannon and Jizo. Fudo Myoo is said to be an incarnation of Dainichi Nyorai and is affectionately called "Ofudo-san." His fearsome face is meant to guide those who would not listen to the Buddha's gentle face alone to the right path. With the sword in his right hand, he dispels all worldly desires that hinder the Buddha's teachings, and with the great flames on his back, he burns away evil spirits and obstacles. With the rope in his left hand, he protects people's peace for a long time and bestows great blessings by helping them achieve enlightenment. Although it may look frightening, this Buddha statue is filled with compassion and a desire to save people.
