The first Seiko 5 was the Seiko Sportsmatic 5, which was released in 1963 and stood for the ``5 features'' that focused on technology and practicality at the time.These features were ``self-winding,'' ``waterproof,'' ``integrated day/date window display at 3 o'clock,'' ``crown at 4 o'clock,'' and ``durable case and bracelet,'' and were intended to provide extremely convenient and practical functions for daily use.In particular, automatic winding and water resistance were innovative at the time, and with these features as standard equipment, the Seiko 5 became a reliable companion for many people.
