SFP+ passive cable assemblies are a high-performance, cost-effective I/O solution for 10G Ethernet and 10G Fibre Channel applications. SFP+ copper modules enable hardware manufacturing to achieve high port density, configurability, and utilization with very low cast, reducing power budgets. These high-speed cable assemblies meet and exceed Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel industry standard requirements in terms of performance and reliability.
These assemblies are called “passive” copper cables and do not include signal conditioning circuitry (e.g., Crossstalk or Echo Cancell) within the SFP+ connector. These assemblies are sometimes referred to as “DAC” or “Direct Attached Copper” cables. SFP+ MSA footprint optical cables can be used with optical transceivers or active optical cables (AOCs) that require transceivers within the cable.

Installation:
A. Installing the SFP+ Module
1. Remove the protective ESD cap from the connector.
2. Slide the end of the SFP+ cable into the slot until it locks into place (you will hear a click when the connector is properly seated).
B. Removing the SFP+ Module
1. Pull the SFP+ latch pull lanyard.
2. Grasp both SFP+ connectors and remove from the system.
3. If possible, replace the ESD protective cap or place the SFP+ in an ESD protective bag.
