Zaion engineers have created a material as durable as metal and as light as carbon. Conventional wisdom suggests aluminum reels offer toughness, and polycarbonate is needed for lightweight bodies and rotors. Zaion combines these two characteristics. While typical carbon is made from nylon 6-6 resin with 20% carbon fiber, Zaion boasts twice the density of carbon fiber. As a result, it is a unique material as strong as magnesium. Zaion bodies are 25% lighter than magnesium counterparts and 50% lighter than aluminum!
