D'Addario's first plant was located in Lynbrook, New York, and got off to a head start with just 5 people. After that, it acquired Kaplan Music String Company, a long-established classical stringed instrument manufacturer, and introduced the Fretted Line, which later achieved success. In 1984, the factory was relocated to meet growing demand, 150 new employees were added, and expansion of production plants began. Beginning with this relocation, D'Addario's position was solidified as production sites were expanded over the next 10 years.

One of the secrets to D'Addario's growth is the philosophy of “as much in IN HOUSE as possible.” Heidelberg printers and a huge number of other printers were introduced, and printing operations that had previously been outsourced were also carried out in-house. Furthermore, since our own staff also carry out marketing and package design, we have achieved success in many sales campaigns not only by reducing costs, but also by accurately capturing market trends and customer needs.
