This is an uncleaned fossilized tooth of a Megalodon (Carcharocles/Otodus megalodon). It was recovered from the seabed off North Carolina, USA, by our partner divers. Each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind; we will send you the one you choose. [Period of existence: Approximately 23 million to 3.6 million years ago / Neogene period (Miocene-Pliocene)] These fossils were retrieved from the seabed and have not been intentionally cleaned. Therefore, they may have traces or attachments of anemones, corals, and other dirt. After a light rinse with water, they have been thoroughly dried in the shade, but because they are fossils that have spent tens of millions of years in the ocean, those with a keen sense of smell may detect a very slight scent of the sea.
