Furthermore, it features drop impact resistance from 1.6m (Note 1), dust resistance equivalent to IP6X (JIS protection class 6), a cold-resistant structure that allows operation even at -10℃, and a load-bearing structure that can withstand weights up to 100kgf (kilograms-force), making it a tough model that can withstand use in harsh outdoor environments.
This camera employs a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with excellent sensitivity and low noise characteristics, enabling high-speed readout of image signals, and a high-performance image processing engine, achieving high sensitivity performance up to ISO 6400 and high-definition images with approximately 16 million effective pixels. Furthermore, it is equipped with image processing functions that utilize "super-resolution" technology, resulting in even sharper images with superior resolution. It also features a "handheld night scene" mode that captures and combines multiple images at once to produce blur-free images even in dark places.
Six LED auxiliary lights for close-up shots are positioned around the lens. This enables uniform and bright illumination when using modes such as the "Digital Microscope" mode, which greatly magnifies the subject and allows you to observe and photograph the microscopic world invisible to the naked eye on the LCD monitor. The "Macro Illumination Function" allows you to adjust the brightness of the LED auxiliary lights in five steps, enabling you to shoot with lighting that suits the subject and your intended photographic expression. It also features various advanced functions such as the "Instant Brightness Boost" function, which allows you to shoot with faster shutter speeds while suppressing camera shake and subject blur; the "Selfie Assist" function, which allows you to check whether the detected person's face is within the frame by the position of a blinking LED; and the "LED Light" mode, which can be used as hand-held lighting in dark places.
It features a 2.7-inch, approximately 230,000-dot, 16:9 wide LCD monitor. An AR (Anti-Reflection) coating reduces glare and reflections, making it bright and easy to view even in bright sunlight. Furthermore, it incorporates an "Outdoor Monitor" function that allows for easy adjustment to the optimal brightness for different environments, ensuring even greater viewing comfort.
Based on real-world image data taken underwater, the camera features "Mermaid" and "Mermaid Movie" modes that beautifully reproduce red tones that tend to be lost underwater, and effectively correct the decrease in contrast caused by light diffusion underwater, allowing for clear image capture even underwater. Furthermore, in "Mermaid" mode, you can select the flash shooting mode "Flash Off + Forced Flash," enabling you to take two consecutive shots—one with the flash off and one with the flash on—with a single shutter press.
