[Set Contents] Blue polishing stick x 1, White polishing stick x 1 + Wooden stand for leather polishing
[Solid Oil-Based Abrasives] These are solid oil-based abrasives in blue and white. We recommend using the white compound for finishing stainless steel, aluminum, and chrome plating, and the blue compound for finishing brass, cast metals, forged metals, and precious metals.
[Description] You can create a "leather strop" for sharpening leather by applying a rouge stick to leather attached to both sides of a wooden base. It has excellent leather sharpening properties! It also prevents rust, so you can use your tools for a longer time.
[Uses] Polishing swivel knives, etc.
[Leather strop method] Apply polishing compound to the surface of the leather strop and gently rub the blade over it to restore its sharpness.
This product restores the sharpness of leather knives, cutters, and other leathercraft tools. It comes as a set with a large blue polishing compound. [Product Dimensions] 38cm Long: Leather strop base: 38cm x 5cm Approx. 160g Wooden base polishing surface: 25cm x 5cm 28cm Long: Leather strop base: 28cm x 4.2cm Approx. 80g Wooden base polishing surface: 15.5cm x 4.2cm Material: Made from natural wood and vegetable-tanned leather, it is safe and durable. Blue and White Polishing Compounds: 11cm x 3.5cm x 2.5cm Approx. 150g Main components: Chromium oxide, alumina What is a white polishing compound used in buffing? A white polishing compound is a stick-shaped polishing product made by solidifying white aluminum oxide with oil. Although it is alumina, the alumina used in white polishing compounds is of very fine particle size and is intended for use in buffing and finishing polishing. After using the white polishing compound, it's common to use the blue compound to create a shine. Compared to the blue compound, the white compound has a polishing power, so it does have a slight abrasive effect on the surface, but it cannot remove scratches, and if the polishing process leading up to using the white compound is not completed properly, a sufficient finish cannot be achieved.
It's not something to get excited about. The usage is the same as other buffing processes: rub it onto the buffing plate (cloth) and then polish the workpiece. Apply it by warming it up to a certain extent and spreading it out. The purpose of polishing at this stage is to polish, not to remove, so it is presumed that plastic flow due to heat is also occurring on the surface of the workpiece. If fine scratches appear on the surface after finishing, no matter how much you reapply the white compound, it will not be removed in the next finishing polishing step, so you will need to go back to the required grit size depending on the depth of the scratches. One of the difficulties of polishing is that scratches that were made earlier are not clearly visible until you reach this finishing stage. [Want to restore sharpness?] For maintenance of leather knives, knives, leather crafting tools, swivel cutters, and other blades. No matter how well you sharpen and maintain your leather knives on a daily basis, the "edge of the leather knife" will become slightly rough each time you cut leather. This is the set I use at that time. It's a set of a rouge stick (blue compound) to restore sharpness and prevent rust, and a wooden base for sharpening.
The wooden base has a "suede side" and a "finishing side," so please use them according to your needs. [How to use] - Hold the leather strop base and use the suede side with the green rouge stick rubbed on it, holding it so that the blade is facing away from your body. - Starting from the tip of the leather strop base, press down and pull towards you, sharpening about 5-10 times. - Turn it over and use the polishing side, with the blade facing you, and sharpen 2-3 times from the front of the leather strop base towards the tip, pressing down.
