The Tetsujin manga that once thrilled boys and girls across Japan is back again. Serialized in the magazine Shonen (published by Kobunsha) for approximately 10 years from 1956, Tetsujin 28-go can be called the pioneer of giant robot manga. It broke away from the traditional hero narrative of good versus evil and presented a complex robot hero whose character could transform into either good or evil depending on who piloted him. Its legacy, which continues to this day, is widely recognized as one of the defining works of both manga artist Mitsuteru Yokoyama and the postwar Japanese manga world.

From 2016 to 2017, the magazine serialization of Tetsujin 28-go, which could be called the "origin," was faithfully reproduced in the same B5 size, color pages, and B6 bonus booklet format as when it was serialized, as part of the "Tetsujin 28-go (Shonen Original Version) Complete Reprint Collection" (7 units/published by Fukankan.com) published to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the serialization. Now, as part of a commemorative project to celebrate the 66th anniversary of Tetsujin's birth, we are republishing a "new" "Tetsujin 28-go (Original Version)" (18 volumes in total) based on the content of all 7 units, taking advantage of the unique original version that was faithful to the magazine serialization, the inclusion of all frontispieces and bonus book covers, and digitally remastered reproductions, in a more accessible and readable A5 size, softcover, new price, and new binding.
