Product Description
- A gorgeous design featuring cherry blossoms in full bloom on a vibrant pink background.
- This is a special booklet for leap year pilgrimages. *Reiwa 6 is a leap year, occurring once every four years*
- It is written in reverse of a regular booklet, starting from temple number 88 and ending at temple number 1.
- Pilgrimages to the 88 Shikoku temples in reverse order, starting from temple number 88, are called "reverse pilgrimages." However, because the signposts installed for pilgrimages in order are reversed, it is difficult to complete the pilgrimage in reverse. It is said that doing the pilgrimage in reverse grants double the merit.
- Also, legend has it that Emon Saburo, the founder of pilgrimage, repented of his sins and sought forgiveness from Kobo Daishi by completing the pilgrimage in the normal order 20 times but was unable to find him. However, he did so during a leap year, going in reverse, and finally found him. Therefore, it is said that doing the pilgrimage in reverse in a leap year grants triple the merit.
- The same B5 size as a standard notebook. Unlike the compact type, you can receive impressive goshuin stamps.
- The goshuin stamp page has the temple number, name of each temple, and sacred hymns printed on it.
- At the beginning of the book is an illustration of Kobo Daishi, followed by a space for goshuin stamps from Koyasan's Okunoin sanctuary, followed by a space for goshuin stamps from 88 temples plus five blank pages.
- The inside of the back cover is printed with the date of initiation, date of completion, and a section for the donor (space for address, name, and phone number).
- There is also paper sandwiched between the bound washi paper to prevent the ink from bleeding through.
- Comes with a vinyl cover, so you can read it safely on rainy days.
