Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is an animated film directed by Miyazaki Hayao, based on the manga he drew for Monthly Animage.
In the film, the vast Sea of Decay and desert that emerged after the collapse of civilization during the "Seven Days of Fire," the birdhorses became an essential means of transportation for people. Takeya Takayuki has created a free-standing ornament based on the birdhorse.
They are birds that have grown larger than humans and lost their ability to fly, but have developed strong legs that allow them to gallop like horses, carrying people and cargo. This allows them to develop a symbiotic relationship with humans.
They are also highly intelligent, and are often depicted as becoming particularly attached to the main character, Nausicaä, and bonding with her.
The Takeya-style free-standing ornament captures the bird's distinctive features, such as its large, bulbous beak, long neck, and well-developed legs, in three dimensions, while adding details such as the fine feathers, scales on its legs, claws, ethnic-style equipment, and adorable eyes and tongue, adding to the depth of the sculpture.
We also paid particular attention to the mobility of the figurine, and after much trial and error with 41 movable parts, their range of motion, and their ability to maintain posture, we have created a sculpture that you can actually hold in your hands and move, evoking scenes from the original manga and animated film.
Enjoy many of Toriuma's famous scenes in your hands.
Toriuma, who supports the people living in the Sea of Decay and the desert, has been reinterpreted as an action figure! The entire body is movable in 41 places. The neck has a joint structure connected by nine ball joints, and is covered with eight separate feather parts, allowing for flexible neck movement. A variety of expressions are possible, such as lifting the head high as if neighing or stretching the neck straight when sprinting. The large, inflated beak can also be opened and closed, and a tongue is also attached inside.
Each leg has 13 movable points, allowing for a variety of poses. The three front toes are fully articulated, even moving to the first and second joints, allowing for a full range of poses, from firmly planting one's foot on the ground to powerfully kicking off the ground as it sprints.
Triuma's body is equipped with reins, stirrups, a saddle, and gaiters to protect its legs, each of which is expressed with a different texture. It can also be combined with the currently available "Takeya Style Jizai Figurine: Torumekian Armored Soldier," and by replacing the included waist joint part, it can be mounted. A fan-tipped sword used by the Torumekian Armored Cavalry, a dedicated sheath, and a display stand are included.
