This is the second installment of "Sugotetsu 25," a realistic board game based on real-world train lines and station names! Set on an actual Shinkansen route map, players roll dice to travel across Japan as if they were on a Shinkansen.
Covered lines include the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen, Kyushu Shinkansen (including the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen), Tohoku-Hokkaido Shinkansen (including the Akita Shinkansen and Yamagata Shinkansen), Joetsu Shinkansen, and all Shinkansen lines, including the Hokuriku Shinkansen.
Players start from one of the starting stations on each line. Roll the dice to move their pieces. Unlike previous Sugoroku games, Sugotetsu 25 has no goal; players travel freely across Japan on Shinkansen trains. Players are free to transfer at transfer stations. Winners are determined by completing a single bingo row, either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, using the included "Kanji Bingo" puzzle.
To beat your opponent, you'll need to think one step ahead—how to navigate which lines to take and when and how to transfer at the numerous transfer stations. While the rules are simple, similar to Sugoroku (a board game where you roll dice to move your piece), if you truly want to beat your opponent, you'll need to turn the game into a strategic game of wit. In that sense, Sugotetsu 25 is a "strategic game for the faint of heart." It's enjoyable not only for children and adults, but also for adults alone.
Japan's first! A realistic railway board game based on the complete Shinkansen route map! *Based on our research (November 25, 2023). Sugotetsu 25 [Shinkansen Edition] is a Sugoroku-like game where you navigate all of Japan's Shinkansen lines, and victory or defeat is determined by a 25-square "Kanji Bingo" game.
[Rules] In addition to the "Must Rules," this game also includes "Optional Rules" that players can choose to incorporate. "Optional Rules" include (1) the "Fastest Train Rule" (commonly known as the "Nozomi Rule"), (2) the "Airplane Warp Rule," and (3) the "Double Attack Rule." The more "Optional Rules" you add, the more complex the rules become, but the more fun the game becomes. For more details, please see the official product website.
Prices differ between the 2-player and 2-4-player versions. The only differences between the two versions are the number of bingo points, pieces, and chips. The game content, route map, and rules are the same.
[Included Items] Chips: 20 x 2 players = 40 pieces, Bingo: 2, Pieces: 2
