This is the 7th volume in the ambitious project to collect every recording of The Beatles. This popular series thoroughly traces the Beatles' journey chronologically through sound, using officially recorded studio recordings as well as unreleased outtakes and songs. Volume 7 covers the period from April 1966, when production on the album "Revolver" began. The previous year, the Beatles had enjoyed great success with a live tour at large venues like Shea Stadium, and their starring film was a huge hit. Although the Beatles' popularity as idols exploded, they were frustrated by their stage performances, where the squeals of the crowd often drowned out their own performances and made it difficult for others to hear them. Conversely, the month they spent holed up in the studio making the album "Rubber Soul" allowed them to expand the scope of their musical expression with the advent of multi-track recording, and it was only natural that their explosive creativity and mindset would be drawn to studio work rather than live performances with inadequate sound equipment.

The Beatles were also keenly responsive to the Beatnik and Flower Movements, as well as the cutting-edge art, fashion, and drug culture that was beginning to sweep London.

Recording began in April, and from the first day onwards, they recorded "Tomorrow Never Knows," which John had written, and new songs were born one after another.

The second day saw them record "Got to Get You Into My Life," written by Paul, the originator of brass rock.

And "Love You Too," which could be called pop music's first raga rock, was the culmination of George's Indian influence. With "Paperback Writer," featuring a solid bass sound made possible by advances in recording technology, and "Rain," incorporating reverse rotation, the band continues to achieve one "1966 rock invention" after another.

Furthermore, on "Eleanor Rigby," they entrust everything to the accompaniment of a string octet for which George Martin wrote the score, completing the song without any playing from the other members.

This was a decision made by the Beatles, whose identity had previously been based on writing and performing their own music. Even given the success of "Yesterday," their bravery is astonishing.

In the name of music production, the Beatles were truly clever.

The production of this fulfilling "Revolver" is recorded in chronological order, allowing you to experience the creation of a masterpiece.

Bonus tracks include two tracks from the score for the 1967 film "The Family Way," written by Paul and produced by G. Martin. The arrangement techniques used here would carry over to his next album, "Sgt. Pepper's."
