This is the birth of a new “standard” earphone born from research into the differences between sound sources produced in 2ch stereo and sound sources produced using binaural technology. It is widely known that when listening to game or VR sound sources produced in binaural format with conventional earphones or headphones, a unique discomfort occurs in the high-frequency range. Researchers involved in acoustics have grasped the cause of this, but there have been few successful examples of countermeasures. This time, as a result of taking countermeasures to the problem with a new approach, we have created earphones that allow you to feel the intended tone and spatial image and directionality in binaural-produced game and VR sound sources. In VR3000 for Gaming, repeated research has enabled even more precise reproduction.
・Gaming earphones focused on “spatial” expression. “VR3000 for Gaming” was developed based on research into the acoustic physical characteristics required of transducers for reproducing the intended acoustic spatial impression in immersive binaural sound* reproduction with headphones and earphones, which [final] has been pursuing. By accurately reproducing the “space” of games and content as intended by the creator, it promotes immersion. For example, in a dark mission in an FPS game, rather than emphasizing the sounds of the enemy, the player can naturally enhance their reaction speed by immersing themselves in the world of the work. As a result, the body moves instinctively, allowing you to enter the world of the work in a similar sense to the real world. *“Immersive binaural sound”: Binaural sound that enables you to listen to three-dimensional sound with three-dimensional sound localization and a wide sound space in all directions – front, back, left, right, up, and down – with earphones or headphones.
・Equipped with [final]’s completely newly designed driver unit “f-Core DU” (Eff-Core DU), which has had every aspect – design, parts, and production technology – reviewed. To achieve high sound quality that is impossible at this price point, we established a new base overseas and completely redesigned the driver parts – diaphragm, voice coil, magnet, magnetic circuit, and each adhesive – as well as the production equipment. This led to the development of the 6mmφ dynamic driver unit “f-Core DU”. The material for the driver front housing is brass, which is less susceptible to magnetic force and has a higher specific gravity than common aluminum. To enhance the time response performance of the diaphragm, a 30μ ultra-fine CCAW is used for the voice coil, and the moving parts are thoroughly lightened by assembling with minimal adhesive. Furthermore, the diaphragm is carefully pressed in small lots of approximately 1/3 of the normal amount, minimizing pressure unevenness and achieving uniform diaphragm molding without distortion.
・A fit that feels customized. VR3000 for Gaming realizes a superior fit based on the housing design, which is the optimal solution for IEMs established in the development of the B series. Whether earphones fit comfortably depends on the feeling of pressure. Methods that rely on the repulsive force of silicone, such as adopting organic shapes that boast ergonomics, may seem correct at first glance, but they constantly apply force to the ears, unknowingly burdening the ears and accumulating fatigue. We aimed for a pressure-free fit by adopting a shape that limits the contact area compared to organic shapes with large surfaces that contact the ears. The VR3000 for Gaming housing is held at three points for a stable fit. One point on the pink area in the figure below (the ear pocket), one point on the green area (the ear piece), and one point on the blue area (the tragus), for a total of three points. Therefore, it fits many ears. If there is no pressure at all points of contact, you will feel how comfortable earphones can be, with an excellent fit that feels like custom earphones.
