Sunny Day Service's "Popcorn Ballads" is finally getting a physical release!!!
Following the critically acclaimed previous album "DANCE TO YOU" and the hugely successful 2016 tour, fans eagerly awaited their next move.
In June of this year, Sunny Day Service's 11th album, "Popcorn Ballads," was released in an unprecedented format in Japan—only available via streaming on Apple Music and Spotify—and caused a massive sensation.
With its bold approach to other genres such as hip-hop and trap, Sunny Day Service has reached uncharted territory in the J-POP scene.
As soon as it became available for streaming, it reached number one on the Apple Music J-POP chart, receiving enthusiastic support from many listeners.
However, in reality, production on this album continued even after its release, with new songs being created and discarded, and most of the tracks undergoing rearrangements and remixes.
Furthermore, with guest appearances from Izumi Makura and CRZKNY, *Popcorn Ballads* expanded, changing its contours and gradually transforming into the envisioned and planned form.
And finally, on December 25th, *Popcorn Ballads* was released physically in both CD and vinyl formats, in what could be called a director's cut complete version.
A grand, chaotic, yet charming musical journey spanning 25 tracks across two discs and over 100 minutes.
According to Sogabe, this work, themed around "lovers during wartime," is filled with funky and psychedelic pop songs,
and has become a masterpiece of futuristic rock, with an unsettling yet sweet atmosphere permeating the entire album.
