With the introduction of a large number of newly manufactured EF210-300 series locomotives, the future of the Shin-Tsurumi Locomotive Depot EF65PF class is attracting attention.
Following the March 18th timetable revision, some of the Tokyo metropolitan area operations will be handed over to newer locomotives, but they will continue to operate at Shikoku Takamatsu Freight Terminal via the notable Tokaido-Sanyo Main Line.
In this special feature, we will look back on the Shin-Tsurumi Depot EF65PF class's performance over the past year using data based on original research, while also presenting their magnificent appearance and speculating on their future operational status.
The Imperial Royal Engine EF58 61 went on exhibit at the Railway Museum last fall.
We will also use treasured documents from another Royal Engine, the EF58 60, to reveal the untold story of its short-lived era of pulling imperial royal trains.
