Product introduction
Introducing a Colombian phantom label aiming for 'Afro-Psychedelia Cumbia'!
German label 'Analog Africa' mainly introduces rare afro sound sources from the 70s. Not only music from the African continent, but also the surrounding islands and Afro-music that lives on the South American continent, etc., and introduces them from various angles is the regular series on the same label, which releases at a pace of about 2 titles a year. The new work in this series, which includes a gorgeous booklet with rich explanations and photos etc. on the high-quality remastered sound source, is an editing board that collects 17 tracks of recordings representing the unique label 'Discos Machuca' that once existed in Colombia in South America.
Discos Machuca, described as “the most atypical and unique record company in Colombia,” was founded in 1975 by Rafael Machuca, who worked as a tax attorney. After that, for 6 years, they developed a label aiming for sounds that can be said to be experimental, such as 'afro psychedelia cumbia', and soon made a name for themselves as an industry fan. First, funds were raised by releasing works by popular people such as Alejandro Durán, who was called the first King of Vallenato, and Aníbal Velázquez, known for performances such as Cumbia and Guajira, and then they began devoting themselves to discovering various experimental and stimulating young artists. What they had in common was that they were based on Afro-Colombian music represented by Cumbia, and had advanced and unique characteristics that fused psychedelic organs and electric guitars, and they had strong individuality that did not fit into the Colombian music category up until then.
This game, which offers a panoramic view of Discos Machuca, is equipped with a 32-page full-color booklet. Of course, important data for getting to know the label, such as valuable photos and interview articles, is posted there. Of course, this is a release from Rice Records, so I will add a separate explanation in Japanese to introduce the content in an easier to understand manner.
A must-have for Afro-Caribbean fans and rare groove enthusiasts.
